Schwind Amaris Excimer Laser 1050RS
The limited-edition Schwind Amaris Excimer Laser 1050RS is one of the most advanced excimer lasers in the world. At Medownick, we use it for our Touchless Robotic Trans-PRK, PRK/ASLA, femto-LASIK, and other smaller procedures.
When it comes to outcomes, the Schwind Amaris is outstanding. It is capable of taking human sight beyond 20/20, and via Trans-PRK can do this without any form of instrumentation touching the eye.
In fact, this laser is the world’s highest-performance eye laser system for refractive and therapeutic corneal surgery. It brings together the most advanced technology in existence, and offers unmatched speed, precision, and safety for laser eye surgery

Schwind ATOS Femtosecond Laser
Our newest technological investment is the Schwind ATOS Femtosecond Laser, the next generation in lasers capable of performing lenticule extraction procedures (such as SmartSight) as well as LASIK.
Medownick has the only Schwind ATOS laser in Victoria.
The state-of-the-art laser combines innovative technology and intelligent design to maximise the safety of our patients, and facilitate precision in refractive corneal surgery, ensuring our patients receive the best possible vision outcomes when we perform SmartSight keyhole procedures.
The Schwind ATOS is an advancement on other lenticule extraction lasers, featuring intelligent eye-tracking with pupil recognition and cyclotorsion compensation. For patients, this means better outcomes and lower risks of complications.
Tour the clinic and laser suite
All of our diagnostic equipment is cutting-edge, capable of providing results so accurate that they are used to determine the algorithms in your laser surgery. The spacious laser suite itself is big enough to contain both lasers in the one room, so all you need to do is relax and follow the surgeon's instructions.
And while our technology is state-of-the-art, we still want you to feel comfortable. The suite features a beautiful, relaxing mural, we will provide blankets if you feel a bit chilly, and you are welcome to request music playing during the procedure if you'd like it.
